I was featured for by Jill at Big Kid Small City as a Houston Mom and Blogger. It felt awesome to have someone want to share my story. Click here to read about. But more important, check out Big Kid Small City and learn all the happenings in and around Houston and activities that you can do with your children. Jill offers a wealth of information.
This season I participated in my first Blog Tours. Both were a lot of fun! I enjoyed both getting to know the women, sharing our ideas and just collaborating with each of them. I hope that I have the chance to do that again!
Did a complete color change as well. Not just for Christmas but as a permanent change. I think the deeper red is so much better. New theme, new blog, new profile pic, new colors. A lot of changes in such a short time.
I changed my profile pic. Normally this would not be noteworthy news. Really…its just a picture. But its the first time that I have truly liked a picture of me (or at least in a long time). What I also learned, for branding, its a lot of work to change that picture through out all the social media platforms. Whew!
It was time to change from a Fall Theme to a Christmas/Holiday Theme. Loved this. But not only did I change the theme, I actually learned how to edit photos a bit more. I learn more and more everyday! I love it!
The migration from .com to self-hosted was very painful. But a new design emerged. I love it. I will have more flexibility and will have the ability to offer things that I had never thought I could offer from my blog. Look for a lot of new things to happen soon…in the very near future. The site is still under construction, but it live! So stop by and visit. I will post a tour soon!
A new partnership emerged with the migration from .com to self-hosted. Long story, but the migration did not go well with the original vendor. It was originally not her fault. I actually interrupted the migration process and caused a little bit of havoc with the design. But because of her reaction, I chose to attempt to do things on my own. That did not work…caused my site to be offline. Thankfully Steven came to my rescue. I am truly blessed to have someone like him on my side!
My site is being migrated from WordPress.com to WordPress.org. Design will change a bit. But looking forward to new flexibility and offering more on on the new Hosting Platform, with the new Design and with lots of new Content!!! Very exciting!
Emma, Amanda Sellier and I particiapted in the Window Covering Awareness Month contest in which we created a video that was both lighthearted, but shared an important message…Blind Cord Safety. It was a lot of fun. And WE WON!! Woo Hoo!!! Check out our video!
Working with 3 other women, Share it Sunday Weekly Liink Party launched. Very exciting and hoping to share a lot of new inspiration with you every Sunday morning. So visit it regularly!
Burlap has overtaken my blog as a symbol for Fall. Fall is here. So very exciting! Time for Football, cooler weather, and a new look at denise designed. Thank you to Angela Bickford for her creativity and effort in helping me to continue the theme throughout my entire branding. She is amazing. Check her out!
Home Tour finally went live! I am posting a new room or area each week. As the post goes live, pictures will be added to the Home Tour Page. The Home Tour will feature just the main pictures and the posts will have the individual highlights, close ups and the stories associated with the highlights!
I decided to participate in the 31 Day Challenge by the Nester! Very exciting! Its definitely not been hard to write daily. So hopefully I am improving my writing while trying to accomplish my goal…Find My Way!
I have partnered with Alisa Murray and my Childrens Fashion Posts are being fashioned weekly there! I will post a link to them here on denisedesigned.com as well.
I have never decorated for the fall until this year. And my Fall 2013 Mantel was chosen to be featured on Whimsy Wednesday! The 3rd feature in one week! Can’t get any better!
My Re-Dressed Dresser was also featured at Whipperberry.com. In the same week! Yay!
My Re-Dressed Dresser was featured at Homework Wednesdays! First Feature! Very exciting!
I attended my second Blog Conference….Blog Elevated! Learned a lot!! More to come as a result!
Site theme changed and will continue to change every few months. This theme is to represent “back to school”. Theme changes will include the Header Image, Category Buttons and the Home Page Image. Let’s see what the next one will look like!!!
I have created a Favorite Links Page so check out my partners, my blog friends, where I contribute and various other links. I will continue to add. If you would like yours included, you can email me at denise@denisedesigned.com.
Blogging Tips has been launched. I am definitely not an expert, but hopefully you won’t have to go through some of the same things as I did. I will expand this page to provide you other resources, rather than just my posts. However, I will post some info weekly in a post format and then provide the link up on the Blog Tips Page. If you have any specific issues or questions, feel free to contact me.
Yay! I have been chosen to be a guest blogger over at Houston Moms Blog. They selected me to write about fashion and/or beauty. I don’t know the specifics yet, such as whether it will be more than one post, when I will be posting, etc?!?! But I will be sure to share all of that info with you as I know. I just know that I am super excited. I will be attending the launch party and hope to share the details of the event with you in the upcoming weeks. Visit their FB page and watch out for the Live Blog announcement!
I will be hosting a Link Party in September so that you may take advantage of linking your site, connecting with others and in the end, grow your presence. Announcements with dates and how to do so will come in the next few weeks. In the meantime, check out and visit Julie at This Gal Cooks and visit the past Link Parties and participate in the fun weekly! You don’t have to wait for my hosting date! 🙂
I have been chosen as a Porch Storyteller. I am not sure what that means just yet. Ha! Heck..it may not even be much to advertise here. Hopefully I will know more soon.
But I do think that the site will be fabulous. Concept is similar to Angie’s List but oh so much more. Visit Porch.com to learn more about them!
In August I was able to attend my first Blog Conference, the Haven Conference. It was fabulous to meet other bloggers, make some great friends, learn some new things and challenge me to think about where to go next.
You may not have the ability to see the impact that the conference had on me, but I have already. Great experience!

As the new site design was coming together, I planned a Virtual Launch party that was very exciting. I took a PTO day from work and spent the entire day providing hourly content and giveaways. Content in the form of interviews, article, partner highlights, videos, etc. The launch took a lot of time and effort. With the help of Cultivate Media and several other Partners, it was a hit and so very successful. My hope is to expand the Virtual Launch concept and publish and e-book so that others can execute their own Launch Party. I will advertise if and when that happens! But in the meantime… Click here for more Virtual Launch Party articles. Click here to learn more about the Partners that participated in the Virtual Launch Party.
New site design has been the most exciting. To see its transformation has been fabulous. I have Cultivate Media to thank for their influence and design. And there is definitely more to come. Next step will be to migrate to a self-hosted site. So there may yet still be some changes to accommodate that move. Will keep you posted!
