Blog Tips 2014

By: denise designed

blog tips feature

While I think that my blog has really matured this year, it has not been without a lot of tears, stress and money spent.

I want to help you avoid some of those same frustrations so Blog Tips 2014 will do just that…

Provide you some useful tips, in one place, by myself and other bloggers, to ensure that you do not have to experience what I have gone through.

Can it really be that bad..you ask?

Yes!!

Are you ready for it?!?!

I spent over $2000 working with several different designers, going through several different designs, being offline for 2 weeks at one time and forcing me to question whether all of this is worth it.

Is it worth it?  Yes!  Of course!  But I wish I would have known more, done more home work, because blogging is definitely not free.  So thinking it is and choosing options because they are free or cost less, usually cost you more later.

There are some things you should expect to pay for such as:

  • A domain name
  • Logo
  • Blog Host
  • Blog Designer
  • Template (potentially)
  • Email host
  • Software
  • Memberships
  • Business cards
  • Graphics
  • Blog Conferences
  • Books, webinars, etc
  • Camera
  • Post Content
  • Advertising and Promotions

And your time!!!

I will provide you more detail on each of these in a later post, but you can reference The Cost to Blog for additional info for some of the above bullets for the time being.

So if you are interested in blogging at all, bookmark this page, or subscribe to read the weekly posts.  I cannot wait for you to see what is planned.

And do you need some help with social media?  Posts and your site are only half of Blogging.  Social Media is the other half.  So stay tuned for tips on how to better market your blog as well.

Leave a comment with your biggest challenge or any questions that you might have to ensure that your needs are addressed.

Look forward to seeing you back here next week.

I started blogging this year, and did a lot of research before hand while I was on the wait list for my blog designer. I’m glad I did research, but the most surprising thing to me about blogging is how much time is needed to have a successful blog.

You are not kidding Jann! It is crazy how much time it takes. Let me know if there is anything in particular that you are looking for some help with.

It sure does take a lot of time to build a blog. I started blogging in 2009, but really just started working on my blog the last few months. Before that it was just a place to share my creations with friends and not something that I actually worked on posting on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
