Welcome!!!
I am so excited to be featuring…
The Inspired Room on Home Tour Tuesdays
Tuesdays will be dedicated to taking you on a tour of my home, other blogger’s homes and then just those homes that are unique, interesting or have a story to tell.
With that being said…let’s get on with it!!!
Let me first introduce Melissa and The Inspired Room.
Melissa launched The Inspired Room in 2007 and it has since grown. Not only does she reach over 400,000 people with 1 million page views, but she has also been featured in various publications (both online and print) and is the distinguished recipient of some fabulous awards such as the Top 12 Home Design Blogs at Apartment Therapy’s Awards in 2012 and 2013. More about Melissa and The Inspired Room…
Having followed her for quite a bit of time, I have been drawn to her clean, simple designs along with her great writing ability, photography skills and philosophy.
Her mission is to inspire others to make their home authentic and inspiring to their everyday life.
And as such, I knew I wanted Melissa’s home to be my first feature. Her goal is to inspire you to decorate a home that is unique to you. I think you will find some great inspiration as I have. Also be sure, after you have seen some of her home below, to read her Journey To A Dream House…inspiring as well.
So again…
Welcome to Melissa’s Home
Thanks for coming on in!!! Now that you’ve seen the entry way (above), lets head into the kitchen…The Heart of the Home (as shown in my own Kitchen Tour).
Its important to note that the original Home Builder designed the kitchen with dark counter tops and a backsplash with only two rows of tile. And while the cabinets were not dark, the brown colors, combined with the counter and tile, created a much more dark and boring feel (yes…I did say boring…sorry Melissa).
Ohhh…and there was also a breakfast bar that was intended to provide a little bit of a separation between the kitchen and the family room.
Additionally…the flooring was quite different in the two spaces.
After the Makeover, however, you can see the light, airy feeling with the mix of white and gray cabinets. Also notice the white, instead of the original brownish toned counters and tile/backsplash. Can you see how many rows of tile there are now? Adds an element to the design.
Note, in particular, the difference in flow after removing the breakfast bar and extending the kitchen flooring into the family room.
Fabulous!!! (in a higher pitch, singing voice)
Oh my Gosh! Looking at my watch, I can’t believe we have already spent so much time together and have only seen the kitchen. There is still so much more to see. Unfortunately…time flies when you are having fun and I don’t have enough time to walk you through the house in its entirety.
Instead, I will just let you guide yourself. So stay awhile and see more of Melissa’s beautiful kitchen!
She is opening up the rest of her Home to you as well.
Be sure to take the time to check out all of her fabulous rooms.
I leave you with a challenge…to start to truly design your home such that it reflects and inspires you daily! So take note of the design elements that you love here at The Inspired Room. Make a list. And then come back next week, with the list, as we visit another home to inspire you even more.
