This weekend I am participating in a Homemade Beauty and Household Products Showcase with a total of 18 Fabulous Bloggers!!
Who doesn’t love natural products? Did you know that you had so many everyday items in your kitchen that you could use to Beautify yourself, rather than having to spend hundreds of dollars to achieve the same (and sometimes even better) results?
Because I have some acne scars on my face (boo!!), I am featuring a Homemade Exfoliating Scrub for both Acne AND Scars that will also leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and clean!
All you need are Olive Oil and Baking Soda.
Yes! Thats it!
- 1 tbsp of Olive Oil (I prefer extra virgin)
- 1 tsp of Baking Soda
Mix the two together.
Rub on your face, neck and chest and leave on for about 5 minutes. Be sure to avoid the areas around the eyes. Wash off with warm water.
And you are done!! But please note…you do not want to use more than once a week as the baking soda can irritate your skin if used too often.
Did you know that, not only is Olive Oil used for Scars but also as a moisturizer and eye makeup remover?
Leave me your feedback after you try yourself and I would love if you could pin and share this post with others!
Thank you so much!!!

Another great tip to pin. I certainly didn’t know you could use olive oil as a make-up remover. Thanks for sharing Denise.
The only thing to be careful of when using the olive oil for make up remover, Kerryanne, is to not use a ton of it because then when you open your eyes…takes a few minutes to see again. Ha! All that oil. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and pinning!
I had no idea that EVOO and baking soda could be used for exfoliation. Thanks so much for sharing this helpful tip.
Yep Paula! Its pretty fabulous. My skin felt awesome. My friend in Germany uses a lot of natural, homemade items and recommended I try this. And I did! 🙂
I just love that we have within our pantry so many things that are good for us inside and outside. Wonderful recipe for exfoliating! Love Extra Virgin Olive Oil for the skin!

Can’t wait to try this Denise and I’ve got all the ingredients – even better!
Now why didn’t I think of that!? Thanks for sharing this! My skin is on the dry side, while my teenage daughter’s is oily. Would this work well for her also?
If she has oily skin, it is still ok to use. In fact, it can potentially help. You should evaluate why her skin is oily. It is your body’s natural reaction to produce its oil when you are not moisturizing regularly or if you are using a product that dries your skin out (like acne products). Usually when your skin is reacting, it produces too much oil. Olive oil (as with any moisturizer) will help keep the skin balanced and thereby, the skin will not have to react and over produce. But I would say try it. Every skin is different. Just something to think about. Thanks for stopping by and commenting Michelle.
Thanks Denise. She is thirteen and has recently gotten oily. I assume it’s because she is a young teenager. We are trying some heavy acne products so your comments shed some light on why that could be happening. I experience the opposite issue…very dry…so I have struggled with how to help beyond spending way too much at the cosmetic counter!
We are trying this tomorrow. I really appreciate your reply! 🙂
Michele…I am sure the heavy acne products are a contributing factor. I would look at the other things that could potentially be causing the oil as well such as stress, hormonal changes, diet, etc. So it could be various different things that combined…are causing such a mess. Good Luck!! You will have to keep me posted.
