The Y looks crooked in this pic, but I promise it is not!
I had been searching for something to fill the missing space on my mantel for Christmas this year.
Last year…I had a swag and it was so large that I didn’t need anything else, with the garland and lights as well.
But this year I changed it up a bit with a large, oversized wreath instead of the swag. And it was definitely missing something.
I wanted something that I could tie in my burlap and colors so here is what I came up with…
A Joy Burlap Wall Design
Here is what I needed:
- Canvas – whatever size you need to fill the space, but for this project, preferably a thinner one
- Burlap
- Letters – the J and Y of Joy, but you can use any to create any word
- Bow, Garland or whatever to create the “O”
- Red Paint and Brush
- Background Paint – I used Beige
- Staple Gun and Scissors
- Mod Podge
First cut your burlap to cover the canvas (want to make sure you cut about an inch more than the canvas measurement).
Staple all around.
Then flip over and paint the majority of the burlap with whatever color you choose.
I chose beige.
Paint your letters whatever color you have chosen. Mine are red.
Create the “O” using either garland, ornaments, live pine, bows, etc. I loved the bow idea.
Glue both wood letters (after dried) and whatever you used for the “O” with any type of glue. I used a paint brush and mod podge.
And there you have it…the finished product.
How easy is that?!?!? If canvas is not your choice, you can use any old fabric or paint color. Get creative! Think outside the box! This is only to inspire you and hopefully give you some new ideas.
I used Burlap because it is throughout my Christmas Design. I will highlight how I used in later post!
And I will show you the Wall Design on my Mantel when I post my Christmas Home Tour. So stay tuned for that. Want to know when it hits? Subscribe by entering your email address in the sidebar and clicking on Subscribe.
Have you linked up yet to Share it Sunday? If not, don’t forget to do so!
