Christmas Wall Design Tutorial

By: denise designed

christmas wall design 500

I do love to include the walls in my overall design.  As such, similar to my Fall Design, I am creating a Burlap Christmas Design.

Supplies needed for this project:

  • Canvas
  • Burlap
  • Scissors
  • Hammer
  • Stapler Gun
  • Staples
  • Wire
  • Wire Cutter
  • Iron
  • Ironing Board
  • Wreath

To Dress the Canvas

Step 1:  Choose the Canvas size and buy the Burlap.

Step 2:  Iron Burlap

Step 3:  Lay Canvas on Burlap and cut excess Burlap

Step 4:  Staple Burlap to Canvas

And there you have it…Canvas is Dressed!

For the Wreath

I found a Berry Wreath that I fell in love with, so rather than making my own, I just bought it.

But you can create your own using garland, tulle or anything else you might like that fits within the measurements of your canvas.

To Hang

You will need to use the Wire and Wire Cutters

Choose a Ribbon to hang the Wreath

I chose a chevron burlap but there are so many more options available.

Staple the Ribbon on the backside of the top of the canvas.

And then attach the Wreath to the ribbon using the Wire.  The secret is to have enough ribbon that you can fold the end a bit as shown here:

All that is left is to loop the wire through the ribbon and secure.

You may find a better way to hang, but if you see below…it hangs beautifully.  And it is very sturdy.

You now have a completed your very own Christmas Wall Design.

Stay tuned for my Christmas Tour in which you will see the finished product and how it completes the Design!

This is such a universally applicable design! I love the idea of covering existing canvas with something and hanging things from the canvas. What a great idea for renters. I would never have thought of that. It’s always the simple ideas that are the best.
