Most mothers do not style their children as they do themselves.
But why not?
Not really a hard question to answer. Quite frankly, you buy an outfit for your child and it usually only lasts a season before they can no longer wear it.
Styling is more than just about the outfit itself. It’s adding the accessories to round it out….completing the look. Those pieces can last for more than a season and can be used over and over again if taken care of well and if purchasing versatile pieces.
Styling pieces include:
Jewelry
Shoes
Hair Accessories
Leggings (shown below), Jackets, Cardigans, etc
Here is an example of a well styled look:
Your challenge is to look at the next outfit you choose for your child and determine how you can add to Complete the Look.
If you are simply taking them to daycare, styling may not be something you want to do for fear that something will be broken, lost or ruined. I don’t style my daughter for daycare unless pictures are being taken that day.
But challenge yourself to find the right shoes and accessories for:
- a weekend look
- pictures or
- special event.
You may even find it more fun for both you and her (or him).
