Morning!
Or
Afternoon!
(since you will be reading this mid-day)
Guess what step I took to help me Find My Way?!?? Or at least one of the steps, because participating in this challenge was definitely A step. No clue? Well let me just tell you!
A couple of weeks ago I went to a blog conference! Yeah…no…thats not it!
There was a fabulous Keynote Speaker. I am not sure why, but I felt drawn to him. He has been a very successful entrepreneur in such a short time (as he is 10 years younger than I). But it wasn’t that he was an entrepreneur that intrigued me so much. It was that he has figured out his strengths and used them to benefit him. I am sure he still has a lot to learn about himself, but the fact that he has been able to capitalize on his strengths at such an early age, to me, was truly awesome!
Yes…I am 40 and I just used the word “Awesome”. Secret…I use that word a lot! Ok…I digress. Back on topic.
As soon as I could, I emailed him directly and asked if he could spend some time to help me!
I asked! For Help!
How many of you wish you had the time, money or guts to ask someone to help you?!?!? I am sure many more than would openly admit.
I decided that I could not do this alone. I have tried that over the past couple of years (as I have mentioned already in an earlier post) and haven’t been successful. Now let me qualify that though. I am one of the most honest people (to my detriment sometimes). Not just in my relationships with others, but with myself. I can tell you what my strengths and weaknesses are, for the most part. But I think that I am missing some things. If I knew it all, I wouldn’t be here today, writing on this topic, in this 31 Day Challenge.
While I know those things about me, I don’t know which strengths to work on improving or to help me Find My Way, take me to the next level, help me see much more success than I have already.
What I needed help with specifically was:
- Confirming what I think my strengths and weaknesses to be,
- What am I missing that I have overlooked,
- Or what have I thought was a weakness (because I am too hard on myself), but is really a strength,
- And visa versa
- Of my strengths or things that I am good at, how can I improve on them and or use them to my benefit
And I needed someone who didn’t know me, had a relationship with me and that I could be completely honest with. For those things that I am keeping to myself, that I am not disclosing in my posts, I could share with him.
I am learning that doing it alone can be hard and for some of us, especially me, means that I may not follow through or actually do anything different.
I needed a Life Coach!
It is an investment though of both my time and my money. I had one hour session last week. I have some activities that I am to do as a result of that time with him. First activity is tomorrows post.
If you want to learn more about Life Coaching, here is a great article entitled “Top 10 Professional Life Coaching Myths” from CBS News.
See you tomorrow!!

You would be proud of me. I just scheduled an apt to get help learning how to do an Excell/Word merge that has the potential to save me hours on generating my tags for the barn sale. Yeah for new skills! And for friends who are willing to share them.
And know that I am very proud of you too. For this journey you’ve set out on.

Awesome! You asked for help! We all should learn how to do that more often!

I can totally relate, especially about asking for help. I am the best at offering and doing, but the worst at asking. I usually think people are too busy (or maybe that I’ll be bothering them). I’ll have to think on that one more.

I am with ya! But if you were to ask more for help…you could do so much more. 🙂
