I attended another great Blog Conference this weekend, Blog Elevated, hosted right here in Houston. Kudos to the women who spent many months putting the event together that was held at the CityCentre Houston. A special thanks to Lisa from MileHiMama, Bobbie from ClumsyCrafter and all the Volunteers. And thank you to the Sponsors who provided the Swag and Giveaways! There were also some fabulous speakers. I didn’t have an opportunity to hear them all, but here were a few of my favorites:
- Holly from Business2Blogger
- Angela from AngEngland
- Stacy of StacyOfKSW
- Laura Fuentes of SuperGlueMom and MOMables
- John of PressGram (and lots of blogs)
- Karen from Chookooloonks
- Katie from Blinds.com
- Rae Hoffman from SugarRae
The programs included topics related to:
- Being a Blog Pro
- Being Social (Media)
- Being Business Wise
Similar to the first conference I attended, I have some new ideas and excitement. But at the same time, I am overwhelmed and confused with all that I learned new.
What to do first?!?!?
I think first and foremost, I have to move off of wordpress.com. I have known that I need to do that…heck I wrote a post about it (see link below)…but actually acting upon it and getting it done has to be accomplished ASAP. There are so many things that I cannot do being on wordpress.com. Watch out for some more changes with my site.
Next…I really need to do more with SEO and will start with Google+. Do any of you Google+? If you do, come Check Me Out and add me to one of your Circles and I will add you back! More to do with SEO for sure than just being active on Google+, but that will just have to wait until the move off of wordpress.com.
Lastly, I need to work on an email list and a newsletter. I don’t know about you, but I get a lot of daily feeds from blogs. So many, in fact, that I don’t really have a chance to read them all. Instead of having you receive my feeds daily, I want to send a newsletter bi-weekly. I will be working to do that soon. If interested in providing your email address, simply fill out the Contact Form or email me directly at denise@denisedesigned.com.
Of course, I have some other ideas for content now as well, but that is to be expected. I have new ideas every day, but an event, such as a conference, definitely provides some new inspiration. I am excited to share a couple of these within the next couple of weeks. Not sure they will work or will be of any interest but I want to try them out. Are you excited yet? I hope so because I am!
Just as important, however, as the inspiration and learning all that I did, were the new blog friendships established. Check out some of these women for yourself and learn how great they are:
- Angela from AngelaBickford.com
- Heather FromHereToThere
- Kachelle Kelly from KachelleKelly.com
- Candy of SlightlyOvercaffeinated
- Aleshea of GlitznGrits
Well…it was a great event but time to get back to the grind. Thanks for taking interest and wanting to learn all that I learned. I appreciate your support and your walk with me down this path. Thanks!!!

I learned so much. I was surprised they said we should build up Google+ profiles so I’m working on that. And I have no clue how to start with an email list…
denisedesigned says
I am as well. Geesh Bre…so much! Best way to start is to look at your emails that you have. I did a rafflecoptor giveaway that gave me some emails. Anything you have is a good start.

You want off of wordpress? Now I am totally confused. Basically every speaker I heard said to be on wordpress. That was like half of Rae’s talk. Which speakers said to be off of it and what did they recommend instead?
denisedesigned says
Michelle…wordpress.com, not wordpress.org. So I am not self hosted which is what you want. WordPress on self-hosted. While I have my own domain name, its still on wordpress.com. But my goal is to move to wordpress.org on bluehost or something. Hope that helps!

There was so much jammed packed in all the sessions. I can’t wait for next year.

Agreed Alba. I am still trying to figure out how to put the small things into practice as well. As you read…I know the big things to get done. Just so much.
