I had 2 intentions when I first started this burlap table runner project:
- To use the Burlap provided as swag by OnlineFabricStore.net at the Haven Conference and
- To create something that I can use for multiple holidays.
Unfortunately I was not able to use the Burlap from OnlineFabricStore.net because it was not long enough. But I have some other uses for it, so stay tuned for more to come.
But I do think that I was able to create something that I can use for multiple holidays or seasons. The first being Fall for me. See what you think!?!?!
Here is what I needed:
- Burlap fabric
- Scissors
- Stitch Witchery
- Needles
- Iron
- Measuring tape
Of course, I had to measure the table first.
Then I had to measure the Burlap to cut.
I cut the Burlap and had to pin where I wanted to create the seam because the fabric was too stiff.
After pinning, I laid the stitch witchery under the crease and ironed so as to fuse it and to create the seam. To make sure I didn’t burn the burlap, create a mess on my iron or who knows what, I used a wet kitchen towel between the burlap and the iron.
Secret was that the steam also helps it to fuse better.
After each side was ironed, I took out the pins and ironed over it again to flatten all the areas where the pins were.
This was repeated for all sides.
Finished product!
And you can see the runner that I laid on top of the burlap above. The goal is that I use a different top layer for every holiday or season. When I change out the Fall top layer for the Christmas one, I will post pictures.
Tell me what you think!!

Thank you Malia. It was easy to do and I will just change out the leaf runner on top with something for Christmas and then Easter.
