It wasn’t too long ago that I wrote an editorial Can Women Do It All. Shortly thereafter, I posted the raw Q&A entitled, The Woman Who Does It All.
The interview sparked some comments. Some of the questions that were asked were:
What about
- the mom that has to work a lot?
- the mom that is single?
- the mom that can’t take them to their sports because there isn’t enough time?
There is another side to doing it all.
In the Q&A, my friend chose to highlight her blessings, the positives, because those blessings or positives are what motivate and inspire her daily.
I wanted the overall message to be a positive one as well, to inspire us to see that we can do it all.
But what is your all? Maybe it isn’t the activities that my friend and her family engage in. My time is spent very differently for sure. I have a full time career, I try to blog daily, have only one daughter, travel with work, etc. I don’t make the time to engage in the same type of activities. So my “all” has a different definition.
Maybe it is, indeed multiple jobs, managing the babysitter or the mundane tasks that aren’t that exciting. “All” is different for each of us, but how we manage it is whats important and that is different for everyone.
My friend and I both choose to try to find the positive. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some tough times that we go through.
I can tell you from experience, I have had quite a few negative things happen. And I can be so sad on the inside, and not share that with others on the outside. Life can look perfect when in fact its not, in reality. And sometimes it takes me longer to find the positive.
Something I have learned though, is that the more positive I am, the more positive that I allow into my life. That most certainly doesn’t mean that I don’t complain. It sure doesn’t mean that everything is always so peachy. It means that I allow myself the time to be angry, frustrated, complain, sad or whatever the emotion might be and then I move on.
The friend that I interviewed, is the same, in that respect.
Life isn’t always a bowl of cherries. But it is something that we have to deal with and we have to choose how best to do that. How we feel, act, respond and perceive things is all based on what is the best choice for us at the moment. And we all choose differently.
But, I DO think that any time you can choose to focus on the positives in your life, you will open the door to more positives….the Power of Positive Thinking.
My challenge to each of us (as I have to remind myself daily) is to look at today and list the positives. Allow those positives to give us the momentum to get us through. And when the negatives occur (as it does often, I am sure, to us all), remember the list that was created this morning. Look at what is still ahead to look forward to. And remember…WE CAN DO IT ALL!! Whatever ALL is for you, you can do it!!

Its a Modern Blogger Pro theme so that might be why it looks so familiar. 🙂 Just need to change out the images as I do that for each season or event happening, but just haven’t had time. 🙂
