Painting the Town

By: denise designed

Or…ok…just a design. But it can be as much fun as painting the town.

Haven’t you always wanted to paint your own art? And what a great conversation topic with visitors when they see it hanging in your house for the first time?

That quote…art is in the eye of the beholder…is so true. What I like may not be what someone else likes anyway.

How can I accomplish something myself….you ask?

What if I am not talented?

There are so many options.

Take a class and they will show you how to paint a piece such as this fabulous one by a dear friend of mine.

Paint something completely abstract (for those of you who feel like you can’t draw)

Or peruse the Internet (love Art.com) and find a print to replicate.

And if you can’t freehand, you can always borrow one of those projectors that project a picture on the wall, place your canvas there (unless of course your are painting directly on the wall) and trace.

It’s a lot easier than you think, can be loads of fun and you can have just the right piece that both reflects you and your style and is a much more perfect match to fit into your room design.

Your challenge is to take some free time and see what you can come up with. I bet you will surprise yourself.

Stay tuned for a later post in which you can learn how to replicate a specific design.

I love this idea–I want to paint some pictures to hang in our new house, too. I went to one of those classes with a friend recently where they show you how to paint a specific picture step-by-step and it turned out really well! I recommend that everyone try this out regardless of how unskilled you feel!

I haven’t been to one of those yet, but looks like a lot of fun. If you let yourself go and focus not so much on perfection, you will truly enjoy painting them yourself. If you get close to mine, you see the imperfections, but thats ok. Its the fact that I did them, they fit in the design I want and they are exactly what I want. 🙂 I can’t wait to see what you do!

I love this idea, and I have some ideas in my head about doing this. I actually have started to blow up my photography (VERY not-professional, but pretty nonetheless!) into 16×20 and am going to start splattering them all over my house soon! Just gotta find frames. But I love the idea of doing your own painting!

Oh Serena…I have wanted to do that myself. I have some beautiful pics of Germany that I would like to do that for. I want to see what you end up doing. Post and let me know when you have. That would so interest me. Thanks for stopping by!
