Do you know how others perceive you?
There is a great article written by Dorie Clark in the Harvard Business Review Blog Network:
You’re Probably Wrong About How Others Really See You – Harvard Business Review
There are some things that you can do to determine whether or not you truly know how you are perceived such as:
- Examine your online presence
- Conduct your own “360” interviews and
- Hold your own focus group
For me, I sent out a surveymonkey
to both my friends and professional colleagues.
The results were interesting. I am not going to spend time discussing each of them today, but will save that for a later editorial, but overall, the exercise was very helpful.
I learned some new things, was reminded that I still need to continue on the path to improvement in some areas and that while I may have been perceived a particular way, that…thats ok as well!!
You don’t have to survey people as I did, but I do want to challenge you to evaluate yourself. It makes us better people. Try it! You might like it!!!
