Can you hear it? That is my head pounding. Yes…I do mean that I have a headache. And I have a terrible headache…migraine like. What does migraine like mean? Ha! It just means that they are pretty painful…hurt between the eyes, behind the eyes, down to the back of the neck. They may cause me to feel even sick sometimes, but they are not diagnosed as migraines.
Do you get headaches? And what do you do to get rid of them? And why do you even have them?!?
Lets start with why you may even have a headache. There are many reasons. Triggers (as taken from WebMD) can be:
- Foods that you eat
- Hormones (mostly affects women)
- Lack of sleep
- Stress
Just to name a few because there are quite a few other triggers such as alcohol, medicine, etc.
According to WebMD 45 million people suffer from chronic headaches (which is would I say I have these days). Thats a lot of people.
And Health24 says that the most common headache is the Tension Headache. These are caused by the stress in your shoulder and neck muscles. And this is the type of headache I usually have…Tension.
When you get them, how do you get rid of them? Well you can:
Take over the counter headache medicine
Get a prescription specific for headaches
Lie down in a dark room with eyes closed
Get a massage for those that are caused by tension
Healthy exercise
But did you know that according to WebMD that:
- You could cause more headaches from taking too much headache medicine and
- Too much exercise or sex can cause headaches as well?
So if you just have the occasional headache every now and then…you are good. But if you have more frequent headaches, as I do, your challenge is to evaluate what you think might be causing it. Usually when you know the true root cause, its easier to figure out how to potentially prevent them.

My doctor suggested taking 400 mg. of Magnesium a day. I have been doing so for about 6 months. Going to see her next month, as we are tracking the progress. Although I still get migraines, I do see great improvement.

I have had chronic headaches since I was 20. Now over 20 years later, I have been getting nerve block shots in my neck and head once a month. They have cut the headache frequency in half. The next step is getting Botox shots all over my head (they do the forehead too, haha bonus). I will try anything natural if your followers have suggestions I have not tried, which is few and far between.

Yeah Erin…I am not sure. I am so sorry to hear. I can tell you, I when to a headache specialist and found out what the root cause. Once we found the root cause, we were able to work on fixing or remedy’ing. And now I do not have them as often. I still get them, but not nearly as much. I would like to clean up this post (as it was one of my earlier ones and I will ask for any suggestions they may have.
