Geesh! Counting calories is no fun at all…highly overrated. But I will say that what I did learn this weekend is that calories can be important in losing, maintaining or gaining weight. You can’t take in too little because your body begins to store fat. Obviously you can’t take in too much either because we know what happens then.
I sooooo want to lose weight. I don’t diet and I have not really had the time…or lets be honest…made the time to work out. So what to do? I have started to eat healthy, cut out the nightly wine, reduced the amount coffee (as I drink it with my flavored cream) and have tried to watch my portions…even when traveling. In the beginning I lost weight, but I have been flat now for a bit of time. We are approaching bathing suit season. And! I just noticed in some pics with other women, how much chunkier I was than them, especially in the face. So! While I am definitely not fat, I gotta do something!
This weekend I spent some time reading and putting myself to the test. Here are some key things I learned:
- You can take in more calories if you just walk a few minutes a day (while I knew that, actually figuring out how many more calories it gave me was an eye opener).
- I did not realize how many calories I took in daily (especially since I eat fairly healthy).
- Learned that you can’t take in too few calories (as you read above).
So is Calorie Counting for you? I don’t know. I am most certainly not making the recommendation as I am still trying it out. But I do know that Andreas lost close to 40lbs since last May watching his calorie intake (while trying to follow the Volumetrics Strategy as well). I also know that I need to try something different. I don’t want to diet, because as we know those never work, but I do want to be more aware of what I am eating and the impact that it has. So stay tuned. Jury is still out. But I hope to provide you with some more feedback later.
Your Challenge: What are your eating habits? Are you trying to lose weight, happy with it or need to add weight (poor you 🙂 Ha!)? Whatever you are doing…just start to be more aware!!
The bottom line is that you want to be healthy. for not only you, but your family.
Whats worked for you? Any thoughts, ideas, recommendations?
