I had a great friend stop by and mention that he has some odd frames that he collects. What to do with them? While I am sure he already has some things in mind, I thought I would provide some additional recommends.
Are you like my friend? Have all these frames just laying around? Well…almost anything goes. Let your imagination go wild. Change it up. Have a different design for walls in each room. Below you will only find a sampling of all the options available to you. I will highlight more in a later post.
Traditional pictures hung in the traditional method (if there is one):
Frames that are all a bit different…with no two alike:
Grouped together with another frame around them…frames within frames. This particular display, they are all the same frame, but can easily be done with a variety of looks. You just have to take the time to position them:
What about putting a larger frame around a smaller picture or canvas? I am actually going to add a background to the wall space between the canvas and the frame. But more on that later. In the meantime:
Of all of the suggestions above, my most favorite display is that of my neighbor, Shannon. She has a little bit of an eclectic taste (which adds to the character) in which she does a great job in combing the antique and the modern together. Each frame was selected individually at various antique stores, painted and then hung with canvas. Love this look:
Challenge for today: Look at your frames on your walls. Do they need a new look? Do they just need to be filled with more current pictures? Whatever it is…take the time to look at what you have and see if it represents you and tells the story you want to share. If not, start planning.
Good luck!
